Julia’s early career interests were child development and infant mental health. On her journey to working with children and families, she witnessed the impact of systems on the development of children. Julia has served in leadership roles at nonprofit agencies serving diverse populations and has a passion for serving children, young people and families. For the first 23 years of her career, Julia worked in nonprofit agencies serving diverse populations. Her social work career has provided experience in many settings, including hospitals, juvenile justice and nonprofits. She served as the assistant executive director at Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City, the chief operations officer at Sunbeam Family Services, senior director for the University of Central Oklahoma Center for Counseling and Well-Being, vice president of clinical operations for children and family services at NorthCare and as a consultant and trainer for the Oklahoma State Board of Licensed Social Workers. Ms. Reed was a 2018 recipient of the University of Central Oklahoma “Women Who Inspire” award. In 2019, she was selected as the Oklahoma Social Worker of the Year by the Oklahoma Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers. Julia joined Green Shoe Foundation in November 2024 as the executive director. Julia sees social work as a profession of storytelling and story collecting, where new connections create space for experiencing the world through someone else’s lens. With more than eight years of experience in nonprofit management and public relations, and as a certified peer recovery support specialist, she brings both organizational insight and a deep passion for recovery and meaningful connection. A member of the Cherokee Nation, Melody also spent four years working in tribal health, where she developed a deep appreciation for culturally grounded care and the importance of community-centered healing. Born and raised on a farm in Oklahoma, Melody has a lifelong connection to the land, the outdoors, and conservation. She and her husband live in McLoud, where they raised their two sons and continue to steward their property through forestry and wildlife habitat preservation. She enjoys working alongside her husband on ranch projects and caring for their Friesian horses — a shared passion that reflects her appreciation for strength, beauty, and intentional care. They hold a bachelor’s degree in English Literature and a Master of Social Work from the University of Oklahoma. Before coming to Green Shoe, Tesica primarily treated adolescents with histories of trauma, substance abuse and problematic sexual behavior. Tesica also led DBT groups and fell in love with the relational healing that can happen in the group space amongst members, not just between client and therapist. Tesica feels passionate about creating safe spaces for LGBTQ+ individuals seeking mental health treatment. Tesica uses a combination of interventions through EMDR, IFS and DBT to incorporate mindfulness practices and parts work into trauma processing. Additionally, they enjoy integrating concepts from Kristin Neff’s work on self-compassion to encourage clients’ capacity for self-kindness, mindfulness, and awareness of their common humanity. Tesica’s therapeutic approach is designed to support clients in navigating and healing from the impact of trauma while promoting body awareness and increasing felt safety. Outside of their professional work, Tesica enjoys spending time with their partner and participating in some of their favorite hobbies: birdwatching, reading, being outdoors, drinking coffee, and caring for their plants. Larrry spends a lot of time maintaining all aspects of the property, but he is also known for creating warm fires in the winter and ensuring our patios stay ready and cozy for our guests. Larry shared that the work of Green Shoe Foundation keeps him on a path that he loves, and his contributions to Green Shoe are a way to give back to others. Larry shared that he grew up with grandparents and parents who showed lots of love, and that is what he feels at Green Shoe Foundation. Before coming to Green Shoe, Larry worked in sales and in the oilfield, as well as with his family at Rafter Cross Ranch.
