Laurie Spies (she/her)

Therapist, LPC

Laurie Spies is a Licensed Professional Counselor with experience in both private practice and nonprofit agency settings. She has specialized training in story work through the Allender Center in Seattle, helping people explore their life stories and navigate the lasting effects of childhood trauma. In her work with adults in individual and group therapy, Laurie helps clients understand how present struggles with anxiety, depression, addictions, and relationships may connect to childhood experiences.

Laurie believes deeply in people’s capacity to heal from childhood wounds and flourish in adulthood. She approaches the therapeutic process with compassion, curiosity, and hope, helping clients make sense of their experiences, recognize patterns that no longer serve them, and move toward greater freedom and connection. She considers it a privilege to accompany people as they develop a more compassionate understanding of themselves and discover new possibilities for their lives and relationships.

Before attending graduate school, Laurie worked in education and public policy, experiences that broadened her understanding of people and the communities and systems that shape their lives. Outside of her counseling work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and their two dogs, hiking in the mountains, and sitting in with a good book and a lovely cup of tea.
